As you probably know, the State of New Jersey is operating on a limited budget that extends until September 30. It is now up to Governor Murphy to present a new 9-month budget for the balance of FY21, and that is expected by August 25.
Please take a moment NOW to email Governor Murphy and ask him to retain the appropriations he proposed back in February when he presented a full twelve-month budget for FY21, pre pandemic. The appropriations marked the first increases for arts, history, and tourism in 10 years and honored A3101, a law he signed in January that stated new minimum appropriations for these sectors from their dedicated source of revenue, the NJ Hotel/Motel Occupancy Fee.
All three industries have suffered devastating losses due to the pandemic. It is critical to maintain these appropriations for arts, history, and tourism so these sectors can survive and help New Jersey’s economic recovery.
Time is of the essence. Please act now. You may use the suggested wording in the email below, but feel free to edit and add any anecdotal information that may strengthen this case for support. View talking points. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Marie Miller at ArtPride New Jersey.
